Stocking up on medication!

Have read a few times that it is a good idea to stock up on medication whilst in Goa and intend to follow this advice, however, have no idea what the names of meds are out there. Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

Would like to get ...

Iburopfen (or equivalent)

Paracetamol

Antibiotics (some with and some without Penicillin)

Diarohea stuff (for whilst there, just in case)

Anyother good ideas please feel free to suggest. Thanks all. Su.x

Stocking up on medication!

Sista, personally i would%26#39;nt bother with the analgesics, both can be bought cheap enough in the stores here.

I do buy anti-biotics in Goa, as well as anti-histamines, Immodium. And some sleeping tablets, i have heard some other people say they have bought Asthma Pumps. And Anti-Malarials. Zovirax equivalent (cold sore Cream).

If you say where you are staying, someone may be able to recommend a reputable pharmacy. Pharmacy should also be able to give you advice re; anti-biotics.

Be careful as some pharmacies are fake.

In Candolim there is a chemist almost next to Nino%26#39;s Nook (opp. Ruffles) he has been there for years, and is used by the locals.

I am staying in Candolim so the one next to Nico%26#39;s sounds great. CHeers

I mean next to Nino%26#39;s Nook! lol!

We weren%26#39;t able to buy ';prescription'; medicine (antibiotic) in Goa last time - tried a few chemists, but they wouldn%26#39;t give it without a prescription. This is the first time we%26#39;ve been turned down, so assume there are new regulations out. Would be interested to hear from anyone who%26#39;s been successful in getting antibiotics without a prescription recently.

Emiline, i managed to get mine 1st week in February.

Be a shame if i can no longer get medication without prescription, always like to keep some anti-biotics in the cupboard.

Well I haven%26#39;t got a medical background but aren%26#39;t different types of antibiotics prescribed for different conditions? Can%26#39;t remember the last time I had to take some and know GPs aren%26#39;t always keen to prescribe them so I can see why it might not be a good idea to %26#39;stock up%26#39; on them unless you need them regularly and know what to take.

I normally stock up on Garnier anti wrinkle cream as I know that%26#39;s a lot cheaper than the UK though my OH says it doesn%26#39;t work!

sorry to be a kill joy but as a nurse I feel I have to point out no-one should stock up on anti -biotics.Their overuse in the past is one reason why we have such a problem with superbugs today.Really GPs only give them(or should do ) when absolutly necessary.

wellput fw37, i totally agree, with also being in the medical profession!!

thanks was a bit worried I would be shot down in flames, but feel its areal issue that needs to be reinforced.

Also agree with FW37, although I am not a medical anything. No one needs to stock up on antibiotics - if you require them as treatment for a bacterial infection, a medical practitioner here will prescribe them. They are a prescription only medicine for a reason.

My hypochondriac stockpiling in India involves ginger flavoured Strepsils. Dead cheap, ginger strepsils are produced only in India. Well, that%26#39;s my guilty secret out in the open!!
