Short trip to India - Need ideas soon!

HI,

Any help appreciated!

Me and my partner are planning a very last minute short trip to India end of Feb 2009.... We are going to be in Chandigargh for 2 days and have 5 days beforehand to do something else!

We have both spent a lot of time in Delhi and Chandigargh so want to spend time somewhere else for just 5 days - any suggestions?

We are both very open to anything! As long as we can go somewhere and spend time and be back in Delhi within the 5days... so not much time!

Any suggestions welcome!

Have you done a Rajasthan trip so far? In 5 days you can cover Jaipur and Udaipur, or Jaisalmer, or Jodhpur. See a Rajasthan map first and pick out the locations.

Or if you are really tired of North India, try the South, Kerala is very interesting. You can fly Delhi-Trivandrum or Delhi-Cochin, do a backwaters trip, houseboat stay, explore Fort Cochin, fly back to Delhi.

If you are not visited at Taj yet then Agra and Jaipur will be fine, If you have been at Taj then Jaipur and Udaipur and Udaipur is best.

Delhi to Jaipur by train or bus or private car and Jaipur to Udaipur by flight and then back to Delhi by flight,

It all depends on the type of place you want to visit and the kind of holiday you want i.e. short travel and relax for the rest of the time or a more streneous trip with more destinations covered and a lot of bag packing involved.You could try the Heritage circuit i.e. Jaipur-Agra,Hill Stations - Nainital,Shimla or offbeat ones like Kasauni etc.The choice is wide open, narrow it down as per your choice of holiday.
