Jewellers

Dear all,

I am going in April. Can anyone recommend 2 or 3 jewellers in Calangute. My boyfriend offered to get his sisters engagement ring made while we are out there.

Thanks

Jewellers

I can recommend Ali%26#39;s jewellers,Candolim. It%26#39;s a very small shop, not much stock, but he can make anything you want. My friend bought diamond earrings for £300 in December and they were valued at £1,800 for insurance, so she was really delighted.

He is in a shop at Goveia Holiday Homes, which is on the small road opposite Cafe Coffee Day in Candolim. Take a taxi down that road and you will come to Goveia.

Hi Dizzy,

Not wishing to cause alarm, please read all the threads on the forum relating to jewellers in goa !

This is becoming a real issue lately with some people having very positive and very negative experiences.

Having read all that I have this year regarding the whole issue, My wife and I have come to the overall conclusion that we will be better off with the security of buying jewellery at home ..

Regards

Hi Ian

We are going back in March and will be using Bengal Gems again.

If all Dizzy wants are recommendations then i can%26#39;t see the problem.

IMHO

Badgerlad

I remember seeing that photo before, it%26#39;s a really unusual %26amp; lovely design.

Dizzy

Perry does talk some sense.

There%26#39;s been some new posters who have obviously just joined to advertise their shop by stealth or to trash another jeweller%26#39;s reputation.

However, lots of people (including me) have had lovely items made and been satisfied.

Both Badgerlad and Emiline are obviously bone fide members and I%26#39;d personally trust their recommendation.

I%26#39;m not sure that I%26#39;d like the responsibilty of buying a ring for someone else though.

Visiting jewellers shops can be quite time consuming: discussing designs (I assume your boyfriend%26#39;s sister has a specific design in mind), looking at and choosing gems, agreeing on a price etc. What if she wasn%26#39;t satisfied when you got home?

One more thing:

on another website a lady took an item of jewellery to the jeweller that she%26#39;d used for a number of years to have it melted down and made into a necklace. She was ripped off.

Dragon

Absolutely 100%! LOL

I really meant bona fide - shouldn%26#39;t try to be too posh, should I? LOL

Badgerhead, what a lovely piece of jewellery. Don%26#39;t see the probs with Dizzy asking for recommnedations but I have seen some very dodgy posts on here obviously from people working for jewellers.

Dizzy, look at the people posting ie, when did they join the forumm and what have they posted, it is just trashing somebodies reputation or saying how wonderful a certain place is when everybody else is saying its dreadful. Goanjock is somebody else who can probably recommend a jewellers to you, plus look for ';destination expert'; next to the name.

Lol first time i%26#39;ve ever been called Badgerhead!!!!!
