Goa Virgin......advice please

Hi Guys,

After reading quietly in the background for a while have decided to book our first trip to Goa. Flying out with Monarch on the 12th December for two weeks and staying at the Holiday Inn.

The Monarch website will only let me book a basic room and we want to upgrade, will we be able to do this once we arrive given that it is peak season or would you try and get an upgrade directly through the hotel once our holiday is confirmed?

Can anyone recommend a particular room type with good views and a balcony?

Just how busy is it at this time of year? We%26#39;ve been trying to choose a hotel that is spacious with plenty of room for lounging around in the sun all day with lots of sunbeds and without the sardine effect! But also want to be close to some bars and restaurants for venturing out.

Thanks in advance, no doubt I will be back for more advice nearer the time.

Goa Virgin......advice please

not sure if you,ve booked your holiday as yet if not shop around for the best deals sometimes first choice offer good deals,or you could try travel republic and book hotel and flight separte.for space i,d suggest highland beach hotel in candolim and the area is more up market than calangute or baga.these places are north goa and more livlier but if somewhere more chilled then opt for south goa

Goa Virgin......advice please

Hi Chelseawolves,

I%26#39;ve spent the last two weeks on the net shopping around, looked at just about every agent plus flights and hotels seperately and I am happy with the deal we have got. Just booked two minutes ago, now I can sit back, relax and count the days as the excitement starts.

Thanks for the advice tho%26#39;.

Are you a CFC supporter?

i too booked a package,(TC%26#39;s). i then contacted o hotel and have booked an upgrade with them.

the holiday e-mail adress is ;- sales@holidayinngoa.com

good luck BOB.

Hi Chelseawolves,

Thanks again, can%26#39;t wait until last minute unfortunately due to jobs and I%26#39;m sure we could have got a better deal if we left it til later but still happy with our choice and glad it%26#39;s booked can now look forward to researching the destination rather than flights and hotels. YIPPEE.

You must really love Goa if you have been for the last 4 years! We%26#39;ve been to Thailand for the last 3 Xmas%26#39;s and love it there but need a change of scenary.

Hi Bob,

I%26#39;ll drop the Holiday Inn an email today, maybe a bit soon as I am sure they won%26#39;t have my booking yet but worth a shot.

Thanks again guys.

You have made a good choice for your first visit to Goa by staying at the Holiday Inn. A basic room at a 5* hotel will not be the ';basic'; you would find at alot of the hotels in North Goa except maybe the Taj.

Yes it should be busy at that time of year, usually the busiest time of year, depending on what happens between now and then not only in Goa but the rest of the World.

We will probably be changing places with you, deserting Goa to stay in Thailand for a while or somewhere similar so will be coming to you for advice!!

We stayed at the holiday Inn 2 years ago in a %26#39;basic%26#39; room which was spacious and had everything we wanted with a view of the garden and partial sea view from the balcony. There%26#39;s a large pool with plenty of sunbeds and also sunbeds in the gardens too. We never had any problem getting a bed by the pool though that was in February not over Christmas.

Jeera and Gemma,

Thank you very much for your advice it%26#39;s always good to hear from people that know the area and have stayed at the hotel. Good to know it is spacious although I%26#39;m sure it will be busy around Xmas time.

Jeera,

By all means ask away, whereabouts are you planning to go?

Great choice of hotel......I can%26#39;t remember room numbers but some of the club rooms are at the end of the wings and have nice views down to the beach and sea. The main building runs parallel with the beach and the wings run down towards the beach if you know what I mean.
