Pls suggest hotel for transit stay

Hello ,

We will reaching Chennai from Bangkok around midnight and leaving by train at 5 PM next day. Can you pls suggest a hotel for stay? Is Maris still serviceable?

I am afraid we have been pampered silly by Thai hospitality :-)

Hi

I presume you are flying Thai airways, which reaches into Chennai just past midnight. Give it another hour for immigration, customs and baggage claim and you are nearing 1:30. Add another 20 to 30 minutes for your transport to the city and you are talking about less than 3 hours to catch a train. Do you really think you need a hotel for under 3 hours ?

My suggestion would be to (1) Check any of the retiring rooms at the airport itself for a couple of hours to freshen up or (2) Hit one of the 24 hour coffee shops at one of the star hotel - grab a bite, freshen up and get going to the station.

Oops, i think i got the 5 AM and 5 PM mixed up.

Hotel Maris (044-28110541) Hotel Rajpark (044-42257777), Hotel New Woodlands (044 28113111), Quality Inn Sabari (044-28343030) Hotel DC Manor all of these are within 30 minutes drive to the airport.

Thanks Rajan. I went through your earlier posts too. I will give Maris a try ...stayed there for a couple of days 10 years ago! I only hope they have clean linen :-)

They did go through a rennovation sometime during 2007 or early 08 and though i haven%26#39;t been there in a while, i am told they are always full, especially since the famous Eye (Agarwalls) hospital opened up almost next door.

I am sure they must have improved, especially with the linen :-) Do post ur feedback after you have stayed there, which may be useful for others . . .
