Bandhavgarh

I am planning a 2-3 day trip with family to a tiger reserve and wanted to check on which sanctuary is best in terms of tiger sightings and natural beauty. I have already visited and liked Corbett. I am based out of Mumbai. I was thinking of Bandhavgarh / Ranthambore / Kanha. Could anyone suggest? Also do any of these reserves have an option to stay inside the jungle as in Dhikala region of Corbett ?

Thanks.

Bandhavgarh

I have been to bhandavgarh and kanha both. Both of them have very high probablity of tiger sighting.

For accomodation you can look at th site below.

Kanha has accomodation in kisli and katiya , kisli is very much inside the forest. For bhandavhgarh stay can be in umaria or tala. there are many resorts in tala.

Bandhavgarh

The Indian Supreme Court does not allow resorts to be operating in the core area of any wildlife sanctuary. Both resorts have a main gate( or in the case of Kanha-two gates), and resorts are located outside but in proximity to these gates. You could take a train to Nagpur and then do a 4-5 hour road trip to either Kanha and then on to Bandavgarh, or go to Bandavgarh via Jabalpur. Bandavgarh is a much smaller sanctuary than Kanha and on our trip there last year, our tiger sightings were at much closer range than at Kanha.

I returned from a trip to both Bandhavgarh and Ranthambhore last week. I saw tigers at both reserves, but the overall experience at Ranthambhore - despite fewer tiger sightings - was much better. I would say if seeing tigers is your main priority then Bandhavgarh is probably the best option, if you don%26#39;t mind lots of jeeps and noise as part of the experience. I haven%26#39;t been to Kanha but have heard that tiger sightings are not as common. I stayed at the Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge, which is literally just outside the main entrance. You are not allowed to stay inside the reserve.
