Trip to the Dogs (ARK)

Yesterday saw the volunters and staff members of ARK (Animal Rescue Kerala) welcome the children from the Happy Children%26#39;s Home.

The children were treated to a tour of the establishment, along with talks from both staff and volunteers, and they saw the vet in action (giving thier dog it%26#39;s 7 in 1 vacination).

They spent around 2 hours touring the premises and this was rounded off with a snack lunch, name the dog raffle, and then ARK very kindly gave out a %26#39;goodie%26#39; bag to each of the children. Photos can be found at:-

ARK does a very good job for tending for the unwanted/injured animals and also in thier program to get all dogs/cats in the area %26#39;doctored%26#39; and vacinated. Staff members can speek English and the owner herself is from the UK.

If you have time please do visit them but some may find it a little distressing/upsetting.

Yes,I certainly agree with you that ASK do a worthwhile job in the area dealing with all the stray dogs that are about. Some years ago it was at one of their fund raising quiz nights event%26#39;s that we where made aware of another well known charity in the area,and we have been helping that charity ever since.

They also have their own web site,so please Google SISP to find out more about the wonderful work they do in the area. Please note I have no connection with either charity.

do you think it wise to show photos and personally identifiable information (names) of vulnerable minors on the web?

The ark is fantstic and they are desperate for helpers to take the dogs out for walks. The country they are in is fantastic and i garantee you will have a good time and help as well.All the taxi drivers know where it is and it costs very little to get there ( we used to walk there ourselves from lighthouse beach).
