Steph, don%26#39;t go in the monsoons, the river is a muddy torrent, and the migrating birds appear only in late Oct-Nov.

you could also do the chambal safari from dholpur let me give you the website www.dholpurpalace.com

is a good place to stay where you can avail chambal safari also

What I understand is that these are just day trips for bird spotting. Any opinions anyone why this would be better than Keolodeo? Or is this a supplement for the serious birder?

Hi,

Check the site http://www.chambalsafari.com

They are closed from May to September, so early September is out.

Definitely worth it during the %26#39;season months%26#39; though. The Safaris are great for birders and nature lovers - Gharials, Marsh Crocs, Turtles, sometimes even the Gangetic Dolphin. Over 300 species of resident and migratory bird species - including large nesting colonies of the Indian Skimmer. Trained naturalists on board and checklists given to all guests.

The Lodge is a good place to relax. An eco-friendly place with extensive grounds with many birds and animals on the property.

The best hotel to stay in Dholpur is Hotel Gaurav. It is near to Railway Station, Bus Stand and Market. Good quality and comfortable AC %26amp; Non AC Rooms are available at a very economical price. The staff is very cooperative, they really took care of your likes and dislikes. The owner of hotel is a good person.

Gd7201..dont tell me you missed visiting the Raj Niwas Palace - do soak your eyes on the website - http://www.dholpurpalace.com
