Just wanted to let anyone going there know that Thomson are sending letters out warning about the building work going on next door. They say it won%26#39;t spoil the view.
If you look at traveller pictures on here, you can certainly see how the work spoils not just the view, but also there are reports of constant banging and work going on from 6.30am.
On the strength of that, we%26#39;ve cancelled and got a full refund.
I couldn%26#39;t see Thomson sending a ';protect themselves'; letter in advance (we weren%26#39;t going til March), unless they felt they would get loads of complaints and problems. After seeing the pics, i can see why....
Hope this helps somebody....
Marinha Dourada
I just wonder how bad they are?
Every report except the one you refer to is very good.
I am due to arrive 21st March and will gamble that it will be OK. But thanks for letting us know.
Anyone else visited the MH recently and got an account of the building works?
Marinha Dourada
Hi
I have not visited the hotel but ride by it very frequently and from the road it appears that the building work is fairly extensive,Looks like one or two complete new blocks.
Where the blocks are being built some views must be obstructed ,and with building work there has to obviously be noise,
i can%26#39;t seem to find these photos Jez, could you post a link
tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotos-g306993-d5284…
These are the pictures. I think they speak for themselves....
Having spend Xmas and New Year at this Hotel, you have def missed out.
We had not problems between 5 of us incl a 3 yo.
Just a little hum now and again during the day.Around the second pool, but there are so many beaches to visit it really oint an issue
stayed in november in the annexe directly behind where the main works were happening and it was a bit noisy as the workers i think were living there as well
but we soon got used to it and didn%26#39;t spoil the holiday, it%26#39;s a great hotel and great position and the sooner your awake the more time you can explore.
iy%26#39;s worth looking to see the scaffolding lol
would definaetly use the m.d. again
Hi We stayed at the Marinha Dourada the first two weeks of February - the building work was right behind us. The new hotel certainly won%26#39;t obstruct any views as the MD faces the opposite way - only the bathroom windows face the building work - but these are high up and frosted. I think the workers live on site - you can certainly hear them most of the time. They start as early as 6am and continue long into the night. We kept the air conditioning on all the time and the bathroom door closed so weren%26#39;t affected by the noise at all. I certainly wouldn%26#39;t let it put me off staying at the MD. The setting was just wonderful. The rooms are set back off the road so there was no other noise to worry about. The staff were all very polite, friendly and helpful. We would certainly not hesitate to stay there again - it%26#39;s a wonderful base to venture out from. Now the breakfasts are another story ......
Hi, We stayed there from 13th Feb 09 for 2 weeks (our second visit) Also had no probs with the building works. Lovely hotel - can%26#39;t recommend it enough.
We came back from the MD a week ago. We were given a room right next to the building works and the noise was definately noticeable. However we asked to be moved and this was done straight away. The new room was very quiet and not a problem. Only a small area seems to be a problem and as the building work is behind the hotel it does not spoil the view.
