Here is a link to year-round weather in Leh: www.himalayansaga.com/weather_chart.htm

I have a six year old son, and though I did not take him when I visited Ladakh last autumn, I would not hesitate to bring him if I had the opportunity! If you drive, he will probably be fine, as most people are. If you fly, that is where some people run into trouble if they don%26#39;t take it easy the first day to acclimate to the altitude. This means do nothing but stay at your hotel and rest for the first 24 hours!!!

I stayed at Padma Guest House %26amp; Hotel and LOVED it. Great safe, quiet location with an incredible view, but still very conveniently located. It is family owned and operated, and the family is wonderful. There is a boy, Jigmet, who is your son%26#39;s age, and a great kid.

Their website is http://www.padmaladakh.net/ You can book with them online, though most places will probably have vacancies at that time of year. I would recomend making reservations with them for the first few days, then decide where to go from there. Leh makes a great place to make day trips from. Padma Guesthouse can also make all arrangements for virtually anything you want to do in Ladakh, from transportation to lodging outside of Leh to obtaining permits for restricted areas. A top notch establishment that I hope to visit again.

thanks for ur inputs %26amp; i appreciate ur effort to share ur experiances with me.

Please be careful while taking young child to high altitudes.

Leh is 3500 metres above sea level, and a lot of the places in Ladakh where people go trekking are even higher.

Children are sometimes unable to voice the symptoms of high altitude sickness and it only manifests as irritability or lack of interest in food, or fatigue.

Please read up this page so that you are well informed and know what to do:

The same page also has do%26#39;s and don%26#39;t for how to manage high altitudes.
