Oberoi Amarvilas

A rather belated question, as the accommodation is already booked...We (family of 4 with 2 young children) are staying in the Amarvilas for one night only. Are children allowed in the restaurants? If not, it%26#39;s not the end of the world, and we%26#39;ll pop out to somewhere close by. Also, having just about digested the cost of staying there, what should I budget for any meals or snacks there? The hotel%26#39;s website doesn%26#39;t give much away (perhaps they assume that if you have to ask, you shouldn%26#39;t be staying there!).

Thanks.

You should budget at least Rs. 1200-1500 per person for Lunch/Dinner (Only food, no wines). Snacks will be around 50% of that.

I would like to add one thing, they do have reasonably priced Buffet dinners also. You may inquire once you are there.

Thank you. That%26#39;s extremely helpful.

Hello ,

(perhaps they assume that if you have to ask, you shouldn%26#39;t be staying there!).

You can ask the price when you are there and if it dose not suite you or you want to save that money for some other purpose then there are many good restaurants in the city where you can have good food at much lower price. Many tourist staying there do that also.

Good! We may do that. I%26#39;ll see how tired we all are...! And how the children are.

Many thanks.

The Vilas hotels are not really known for their cuisine. Apart from breakfast, I%26#39;d recommend trying other places for meals.

Dear Deepa,

could you, please, send names of the good restaurants in Delhi with resonable prices. I am going in May to Amarvillas too, but I want try some good indian food in town.Thx

1. Embassy, Connaught Place

2. Indian Coffee House, Connaught Place

3. Gulati%26#39;s, Pandara Road

4. Sarvana Bhvan, Janpath, CP

5. Rajdhani, Kharak Singh Marg, CP

There was a lovely post by dilli_billi with restaurant recommendations etc; there are so many in different parts of Delhi, and there are so many different Indian cuisines on offer. I%26#39;m going to search for that; and if I can%26#39;t find that, I%26#39;ll re-create a list for you.

What part of Delhi are you going to be staying? How many days? That would determine the restaurant choice...usually it%26#39;s practical to combine certain restaurants with certain monuments because they are logistically close by.

Hi There,

On the website it looks very formal and palatial(which it is) but it is also a very friendly atmosphere. The kids will be totally fine in the restaurant. You can also have lunch or snacks brought out to the pool area, which the whole family should enjoy. It%26#39;s an awesome pool. I know the rates are pricey, but you would regret not spending at least one night there. Every room has a view of the Taj and it is just beautiful. We had lunch out by the pool after checking out and they were very accommodating about that also.

Have a great time!
