Slightly off the wall......

Six of us are having a Goa reunion weekend in Nottingham ! Any locals out there know of a good Indian , if it served tawa that would be even better. In anticipation, Sue

Slightly off the wall......

I know ANOKI FROM Derby have opened abranch but not sure where it is.If the Derby one is anything to go by food and atmosphere excellent -not a cheap option though prob most expensive in Derby.

Slightly off the wall......

Best Indian Restaurant in Nottingham is KAYAL - it is a South Indian Restaurant which serves both Veg and Non Veg food. It is at 8 Broad Street which is almost in the centre of town, lots of nice pubs near to it. Try the Broadway which is part of Broadway complex, cinemas etc, trendy place.

I don%26#39;t know what tawa is except a flat indian griddle pan - did you mean Thali? If you did they are brilliant at the Kayal.

Will have a look see if I can find the name of the one Gordon Ramsey did a ';makeover'; on, can%26#39;t recall its name at the moment.

In Goa the 2 guys in our group made it their mission to try as many tawas as they could ! It was the name of a dish i.e madras jalfrezi. The waiters said it was a dish originating in Mumbai. I didn%26#39;t realise it was an cooking implement. Has anyone been to The Curry Lounge, their website and reviews look good. Thanks for the info. Sue

Have a great night :-) and I went a googling

theasiancookshop.co.uk/tava--tawa-11-tawa-ap…

there%26#39;s also a restaurant in London called Tawa and it has very good reviews online.

That%26#39;s it - Curry Lounge. Looked in the window a couple of times but never been in - too busy looking at the pictures of Gordon Ramsey!! Looks a nice tidy place and I also read the reviews.

Been looking up the Tawa dish - yes it is basically anything cooked on a flat tawa pan. Mumbi street food is a good example. (Tawas in Indian homes are mostly used for cooking rotis and chappatis).

Anyway if you go looking for tawa food do not choose Gurda Tawa - not very appetising

Enjoy your evening in Nottingham - lots of nice pubs and restaurant especially in the Broad Street Area.

The links don%26#39;t seem to want to work. Just google Gurda Tawa and you will see what to avoid :-)

Have booked memsaab restaurant ....will let you know Sue Thanks for advice
