Golden Chariot train in August

Please can anyone tell me if they have been on the Golden Chariot Train at all and what their experiences were like.Also does the weather conditions in August cause a problem travelling around south India

Karnataka is a great place to visit. From what I have seen of other luxury trains in India, and frm the Golden Chariot website, I would expect this to be good as well. The itinerary is excellent, and Hampi is - there is no other word for this - out of this world. I have been to all the places listed in the Golden chariot route, and it really sounds wondeful. If you want photos of my trip to dubare, ranganathittu, i%26#39;ll send you an invite. Kabini is wonderful as well.

Golden Chariot is a very new product of Karnataka Tourism which is on lease with Mapple Hotels. They have started their tours from 10th March and till date are running on 30% occupancy rate. The destinations covered by this train are worth a visit so the journey should be good. Weather sould not be a great concern. Also note they are offering discounted rates for the last trip of the month for the summers.

I travelled on the Golden Chariot beginning of February 2009 and it was the best trip I ever had! The train was absolutely clean (not a single stain on any linnen ...), the food was absolutely delicious (especially the deserts!)and the crew on the train was simply wonderful. We were 34 guests on the train (60 guests are the maximum possible). May-be due to fear of bombs (Mumbai...) and the economic crisis it was not sold out - for sure not because of a lack of quality on the train. The trip, the excursions and everything was perfectly organized.The only thing: you should refuse cabin D on the coaches, because the ac is very loud in there (I only mentioned the problem and the crew immediatly organized another cabin for me). Dont麓t miss an ayurvedic massage on the train - it was outstanding. The only critical point may-be the prizes of beer and other alcoholic drinks. They are really expensive (e.g. 300 Rupie for a beer). But, in any case: it was heaven !! Don麓t miss it, if you can afford it. Best for travelling on the Golden Chariot is from December until March.
