We were picked up on time and the driver who received us was very nice. We were transported to a '; back water resort'; which turned out to be a isolated run down, god forsaken dump in the midst of a paddy field. the room was dirty with insects crawling all over. Dirt linen and squalor all around. The food was disgusting. We were the only people in the '; hotel'; The staff were very shady and

we were very terrified. We signed up for an hour of ayurvedic massage and were cheated. That guy had the nerve to demand payment for an hour when he delivered only 35 minutes of massage. He was very obnoxious about it and when I contacted Switen George through whom we had arranged for the massage, he was not too helpful. Our vacation to destress turned out to be nightmare. Beware of these online tour companies and when they can take an

indian like me for a ride, I hate to think what could have happened to a non indian-who are considered easy prey for such unscruplous elements.

the next day the houseboat was sub contracted through Paniker travels and they were good. They were truly professional and our chef was good, and the driver of our houseboat was excellent. Our driver even took us on an in land tour of the village to a temple and the trek in land in twillight was memorable. we felt were safe in the houseboat. When we had such a bad experiance the previous day at the rice cottage, I had said a prayer to keep us safe(that was how terrified we were cut off from civilization with unfriendly staff at the resort). The positive house

boat expierance turned out to be an answer to my prayer.

Lesson learnt-always use reputed travel agents who will ensure your comfort, safety and satisfaction. After all a vacation should be a vacation.
