Delhi stop over and left luggage at Delhi airport

Hello,

I am flying into Delhi aiport at 07:30 AM and then flying out again at 17:30 PM. I was thinking of seeing the city in between (probably the Red Fort and anything else I can fit in).

Does anyone know if I can leave my luggage at Delhi airport and how much it will cost? Also does the airport have showers for when I get back in the afternoon?

Thank you in advance for your help

Hi

Sorry to disappoint you, but Delhi airport (still under renovation) has neither left luggage facilities (for security reasons) nor showers.

Cheers

Thank you for your message.

That kind of scuppers my plans. Is there any way to leave luggage near the airport - do you know if any hotels offer such a service or would I have to book in for one night to enable me to do this?

Alternatively, does anyone know if any airport hotels offer day stays, so I can leave my luggage and have a shower before I leave.

Thanks again for your help,

Tom

I understand that the Radisson Hotel near the airport offers rooms on transit during approx 4pm to 10pm. So if you book a room with them for transit, they just might allow you to keep your baggage in their left luggage locker until 4pm. But thats something you would need to check with them in advance.

Whats more, if you have a room at your disposal, a shower before you leave becomes the least of your worries.

Cheers

Try booking yourself into a South-west Delhi B%26amp;B (areas of Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar nad Chattarpur are closer to the airport) if a shower and a meal is all you need. Download the govt approved listing here: %26lt;http://www.delhitourism.nic.in/publicpage/bb.html%26gt;

Red Fort is the other end of town. If you haven%26#39;t visited Delhi earlier do Qutab Minar, Humanyun%26#39;s Tomb and Lotus Temple (or any two) all of which are in the South with a lunch meal inbetween. You will need to report for international flights 2.30 hours in advance and for domesric 1 hour in advance.

Book a room at Ginger Hotel for Rs 1000, you can go there straight from your international flight. After a shower and change, you can go sightseeing. Ginger is an hour from the airport, but it is dead cheap, clean and smart, and more important, it is close to a lot of sightseeing places including the Red Fort.

Book a car or tour of Delhi through a reputed agent for your sightseeing. Have them pick you up at the airport and take you to Ginger; then pick you up from Ginger and take you sightseeing. You can even keep your bags in the car while you see the sights.
