WARNING...WARNING.....Royal membership selling in Goa

Having recently returned from Goa (24th December ) Whilst there we were approched by Royal to buy membership for 25 years at a cost of just under £5000.

This price entitled us to 5 stat holidays in resorts all over the world at a cost of an average of £139 per week as well as the cost of the flight. This included all our friends and family too ! ! ! !

l am not easy to get money out of and l was appaulled at the unprofessional selling techniques from the company.Having walked away after informing them how unprofessional l thought they were l then spoke to some holiday makers who had been approached two years ago in south Goa by the same company and they paid £3.500 and have never used it once ............When l asked them why they sais for the price it costs you for a flight you are far better booking a package holiday it works out alot cheaper.

Royal are letting Goa down my trying to mislead holiday makers in what they are offering.

having worked in sales for many years it discusts me at the tactics and length some sales/companies will go to

WARNING...WARNING.....Royal membership selling in Goa

Hi Sereta this and similar scams have been going on in Goa for the past 7 to 10 years often instigated by the giving of a winning scratch card to the gullible tourist and asking for hotel details to pursue that poor tourist even further

WARNING...WARNING.....Royal membership selling in Goa

Hi - we were stopped 3 times in Cavelossim this year by a guy on a scooter (nearly gave me a heart attack the first time), asking us to go and see the Haathi Mahal to compare it to our hotel. I had learnt from this forum about the selling of time-share places so obviously wasn%26#39;t sucked in. The first and second times we were stopped I said we weren%26#39;t interested several times before walking away. Didn%26#39;t want to be rude but he wasn%26#39;t taking no for an answer! The third time I asked him outright if it was time-share to which he first said no then quickly yes - we weren%26#39;t bothered by him again for the rest of the holiday! Fortunately I%26#39;ve never been the sort of person to get sucked into anything like that and am a strong enough character to keep saying no - but I know some are not. If anyone gets stopped anywhere, just be firm and don%26#39;t waste a day of your precious holiday on these scams, unless of course you really want to buy time-share!

Had the same problem in Candolim recently, i was stoped twice by guys do%26#39;ing the old scratch card/timeshare thing, i just said no thanks and then ignored them.

An alternative form of the old timshare thing seems to be doing the rounds.

I went to the Spice Plantation for a day out, had a good time. At the end of the tour i was asked to fill in a survey form about the tour, facilities, staff etc, which i did.

The survey form also asked for my hotel details, which i completed.

Two days later at a quater to eight in the morning i got a call from a guy from %26#39;%26#39;the spice plantation'; to discuss my visit and to offer me a chance to visit the Royal to veiw the resort as a thank you.

I refused his offer. Over the next 3 days i got 2 more calls, 1i which the receptionist put through to the resturant in the middle of dinner.

So be warned do%26#39;nt give your hotel details to anyone

What l am talking about does start with the scratchcard so it is obxiously not something new to Goa.........................They will obviously go to many lenghths to try and coax people in ! ! ! !

l suppose it goes on all over the world not just Goa but l was really sorry for the couple l met in our hotel who had signed up 2 years ago and given them £3,500 and recieved nothing......................

WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO SAY FOR YOURSELVES '; ROYAL '; you need to be exposed for what you are once and for all.............................and the sales people you employ are nt even any good ................................HOW DO YOU ALL SLEEP AT NIGHT

Sereta these people have no conscience so its good you have brought it to the forums notice again

thanks Lyn x

Hi goanluv - nice to see you back and hope you had a good time away!

thanks Meercat ....this year (first in 10) we tried somewhere different Langkawi is a wonderful dramatically beautiful island, with crystal clear warm sea (beware of jellies though) not even hubby could lay in the sun it was so hot, with occassional tropical downpours (first one caught us completely unawares and soaking wet!) Hotel was absolutely faultless, 5* luxury all the way, wonderful friendly staff, gardens were absolutely fabulous (complete with metre long lizards and weird birds that sang a very strange song) and the beach was to die for. Loads of duty free shopping all over the island and interesting night markets where all the locals went. If only we%26#39;d gone for just one week it would have been perfect.

It was just so quiet and boring none of the hustle and bustle we are so used to it seemed to have not %26#39;soul%26#39;. I%26#39;m very glad we%26#39;ve tried somewhere different but I think I will get my way and we will be off to Goa in 11 months (and counting)

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Lyn x

timeshare by any name or formula is always best avoided at all costs wherever you are in the world, the time to think %26amp; seriously consider buying into something like timeshare is NOT when you are on holiday and not thinkingstraight which is exactly why certain companies use these tactics to %26#39;suck in%26#39; gullable holiday makers.

ignore, avoid, walk away..nothing in this life is free and very little in this life is a huge bargain regards of what you%26#39;re told treat all approches like this with serious caution %26amp; you wont get caught out and more importantly lose any ££££££

i find it quite unbelievable that folk still fall for scams like these despite all the warnings we regularly get on uk tv/press etc and sorry but i dont have a lot of sympathy for those that go for it either, nothing in this life is free so if you are that stupid that you think that you%26amp;only you for some reason have been singled out to save £100%26#39;s %26amp; £100%26#39;s on an amaing lifetime deal!!!!! well im sorry but what you get is exactly what you deserve............

harsh maybe but for gods sake just stop %26amp; think!!!!!!!!!

I concur with all the views and warnings above.......be careful.

However, I paid £5000, 4 yrs ago for a 30 year option within the Holiday Inn, Mobor beach complex. This allows me to visit any two weeks of the year(excluding Xmas/New Year weeks) with my family, friends or not at all! I can send 4 other people in our places. My kids and their friends can use the option when I%26#39;m to crusty or bored with the place.

I never have a problem with reservations, infact I book my flights tell them when I%26#39;m coming, we are always welcome. We dont do the norm we explore, hire motorbikes go south to Kerala or east to Karnataka, never boring and always a safe, warm welcome at the resort when we are exhausted.

For the non- mathmaticians amongst you, £5000 over 30 years equates to £166 per year, £41.50 per person per visit for 2 weeks. Facilities within the hotel complex are excellent, food and drinks are offered at 50% discount over the other guests..........whaddya want out of a deal? and the beach shacks are close, very personal and cheap!

All this and it%26#39;s inflation proof, what%26#39;s £41.50 gonna be worth in 20 yrs?

Yes! be very cautious, but not every deal is a rip off!

Of course flights are always a lottery, but we have never paid more than £385 for returns and been lucky at £299 on one ocassion.

A quick add on we also spoke to several couples (and one family) last year who had bought time-share at the Haathi (10 mins from the Holiday Inn) and have been going for a few years and are delighted with the deals they got, I guess as has been said be careful but it does depend on what you want and the deal you get.
