Cooking classes

Being a very proficient cook - one who regularly cooks curry dishes too - I would like to find cooking lessons for me and my husband while on our tour of Rajasthan... I will have opportunities to make time for this in Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur. Can anyone recommend any wonderful places to do this? (I was referred to a Mrs. Candy Singh in Jaipur who teaches out of her guesthouse near Jaipur but the reviews all indicate that it was more about watching her cook and stirring the pot now and then!) I have also heard of The Spice Box in Udaipur.Any great tips?

Professional cooking classes? Im stumped and look forward to seeing the replies here. I would suggest staying at a homestay and getting the cook there to show you how and having an arrangement that they let you try to cook yourself.

npai,

Can you suggest some %26#39;homestays%26#39; in Udaipur and Jaipur please. Do they have websites etc.

Thanks,

Pete

Arya Niwas in Jaipur does weekly %26amp; long term rentals at their sister property Tara Niwas. Its used by a lot of corporates who have long staying staff - check www.aryaniwas.com

In Udaipur, try negotiating with Mandiram Palace which is a homestay opposite the Lake Pichola Hotel and quite well located - mandiram.palace@gmail.com. Ive stayed there and its a nice place

Npai,

I looked at the website of the Mandiram. For tarrif they quoted two prices for each room ie a EP and CP rate-- any idea what that refers to?

Also did you mange to see or could comment on what the %26#39;standard rooms%26#39; are like etc.

regards, Pete

EP - European Plan - indicates that the quoted rate is strictly for lodging and does not include any meals. All food provided by the hotel is billed separately. Taxes and tips are usually additional as well

CP - Continental Plan - includes breakfast and taxes

Sorry, I should correct myself, CP just indicates that breakfast is included. Taxes are applied additionally.

CPAI indicates Continental Plan All Inclusive which means taxes are also included.
