I usually travel to south east asia (thailand malaysia etc) but decided to try goa this year.... I am aware that the beaches might not be as picturesque as Thai beaches, but which are the nicest ones/best for swimming??
(We are staying in Candolim, but have a driver etc so can easily travel south for day trips etc) Also, we are going out there for the first two weeks of April, will it be dodgy/rainey or does the rain etc happen later in May etc?? Thanks
First time to Goa - Weather in April and nicest beach???
Not much rain in April, you might get the odd shower. But it%26#39;s very, very hot and humid.

The rains don%26#39;t usually start until June - but yes it will be warm and humind but you will be ok with ceiling fans where ever you are staying. Wear cotton clothes not man made fabrics as they will make you sweat.
Goan beaches are not really very good for swimming - lots of big waves and rips - you have to very careful in the sea - if you really want to swim use a pool. The further North beaches of Ashwem and Morjim are flatter than Calangute and Candolim - much quieter and easier to walk on.
Take day trips to South Goa to Palolem and Cavelossim.

';The rains don%26#39;t usually start until June';
Usually is the key word here as when I was in Goa last March we had three days of rain!!
Hopfully ';usually'; is right this year.
offtogoa, we are going 6th april for 2 weeks and cant wait where are u syaing? kezibean
Hi kezibean, we%26#39;re going the 6th of April too, are you on the Manchester flight as well. Its our first time and we cant wait. 8 weeks and counting
Mags
Not so sure about the weather (have only been to Kerala in April previously and that included dramatic rain) - also going back to Goa this April. Will recommend Palolem and Patnem as gorgeous laid back beaches, extreme south of Goa and far away from the package hols destinations. Take your copy of the Guardianor Indie, hug a palm tree and you%26#39;ll feel quite at home in Pal or Pat!!
When I said the rains don%26#39;t usually start until June I meant proper real rain not showers - the stuff that starts in the morning and you are lucky if you can get to the market all day - electric off all for a couple of days and the invasion of the insects type of rain. :-) ;-) ;-)
